Wood is a very strong material and does not get corroded with a knife or a chopping blade. Hence, it is the best material to be used to make cutting boards. Handles may be carved out on both sides of these boards to hold them. These boards are, usually, coated with a thick coat of varnish or polish, so as to protect them from the abrasion of knives and blades.
Wooden cutting boards can be oval, spherical, square or rectangular in shape. These are more an item of utility rather than an item of decoration. Certain wooden cutting boards also have a blade or knife attached to one side of the board. |
