Tables are furnitures with a horizontal surface supported by a base usually with four legs. They are used to hold objects or foods at a convenient height when a person is sitting. Tables sometimes have drawers also. There are different types of tables. Tables used for working are known as desks. Tables used for eating are known as dining tables. Some tables are equipped with hinged extensions which enable the work surface of the table to be increased. These extensions are known as leaves. There are many tables that have tops that can be adjusted to change their position or size. This is done by means of foldable extensions or sliding parts.
