Stoneware pottery is a kind of pottery that is non-porous and scratch resistant. It is grey or brownish in color. It is clay pottery that is fired at a higher temperature (1200° C - 1315° C) than earthenware pottery. Porcelain is considered by some as a type of stoneware pottery. However, it is to be remembered that porcelain pottery is whiter than stoneware and is also always vitreous.
