Tea pots are vessels used to brew tea leaves along with hot water. Tea leaves are available loose or in tea bags. Tea pots are equipped with strainers near the spout. The strainers can be removed for washing. These strainers catch the tea leaves while the brew is being poured out. Tea pots are generally equipped with an opening with a lid on top. A handle is provided for lifting the pot and a spout for pouring. Tea pots are made of earthen materials to prevent heat loss. Earthen materials also act as good insulators. Earthen tea pots may be glazed or unglazed. Most modern tea pots are safe to use on stoves or in microwave ovens. Tea pots can easily be washed in dishwashers. But, it should be remembered that unglazed tea pots should never be soaked in soapy waters or put into a dishwasher. Tea pots have a bulbous shape.
