Pottery Vases

Pottery is essentially hand made ceramic ware by potters. The term pottery is used for indicating all kinds of ceramics including earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Pottery vases are always hand made. Making vases or urns by hand is one of the oldest methods of manufacturing pottery ware. The pottery vase is shaped out of wet balls or coils of clay. Some vases may be made on wheels. Making vases on wheels is a faster process than shaping it with hands. The vases have three parts. The lowest part is the foot; the central part is the body which is the main part of the vase and the largest. The last and uppermost part is the neck. The neck of the vase gives it the elongated appearance. Pottery vases are hand carved or glazed to give them a shiny look.
