Pottery encompasses a wide range of ceramics including earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Pottery is manufactured in potteries. Pottery dinnerware is the range of dinnerware made by using clay. Pottery dinnerware is shaped by hand into the required shape and then heated. Once the dinnerware is heated, it is then fired and baked in kilns. The baked dinnerwares are glazed and painted to give them a final and polished finishing touch. Earlier lead glazes were used which were harmful and caused cancer. Nowadays special lead free glazes are used to avoid health hazards. Pottery dinnerwares may be even made of terracotta. Pottery dinnerware is porous and has high resistance to heat.
