Coffee Pots

They are usually made of metal and can be heated to make the coffee. Coffee percolators make as well as store coffee. Coffee pots were developed around the middle of the nineteenth century. The first coffee pot originated in France. It was known as the “Biggin”. It was a pot with two levels. The upper compartment held the coffee grounds. The hot water was poured into the compartment. The water percolated through the coffee grounds and trickled into the lower compartment by means of holes at the bottom of the upper compartment. Nowadays most coffee pots come attached with automatic electric coffee makers. The brewed coffee flows into the coffee pot which is placed on a hot plate to keep the liquid hot. The coffee pot is lifted to pour out the required amount of coffee as and when needed.
