Ceramic Bowls

Ceramic bowls are vessels made of non-metallic clay called ceramic. Ceramic bowls may be hand-made or machine-made. Hand-made ceramic bowls are first shaped on a potter's wheel and then fired at high temperatures in a kiln. Later, they are painted or colored with different types of designs and varnished to get a glossy finish. Finally, they are again baked in a kiln to make the colors permanent and then glazed with a shiny coat. Hand-painted ceramic bowls are a little more expensive than the machine-made ones. They are available in a number of sizes. The large ones measure 18cm in diameter. Ceramic bowls are used for a variety of purposes, like serving, eating or storing food and non-food materials. In countries like China and Japan small ceramic bowls are extremely popular and are used to drink tea.
